editorial

Telemedicine has been practised in India for more than 22 years now. Yet for those many years, it has been practised in a legal shadow with some dismissing it as not worthy of doctors and some actually calling for its ban. The covid pandemic of 2020, in one shot, changed all of that. It is not just India, the whole world has now woken up to understand the power of Telemedicine. It was now possible for a doctor to take care of hundreds of patients, from the safety of his home or office, without infecting himself or the patient. Rules were quickly put together to create a legal framework so that Indian doctors could practice without intimidation, shame or fear and telemedicine took off like never before. Millions of consultations took place in 2020 showing how effective and safe Telemedicine was.
There is now no going back, this is now the new normal. Thousands of groups, individual doctors and practices have sprung up in India to practise Telemedicine. New discoveries, projects and papers are being churned out almost every day now.
The scenario is changing every day and you need to stay on top of it . And thats what we human curate and provide - Telemedicine news.
